The Genlias Monitor is a free service for genealogists who automatically want to receive new additions to Genlias, the database of the Dutch national archives, to complement their genealogy.
What is RSS? What does the XML logo at the forum stand for?
In stead of manually checking your favorite sites, you can also let the site come to you: with the help of RSS. RSS is an acronym for 'Really Simple Syndication' or 'Rich Site Summary' orf 'RDF Site Summary' and is XML based, the language wich makes it possible to indicate what the contect is about (for example the title, a link or the article).
Sites like Nu.nl, Emerce.nl and the Genlias Monitor publish their news via RSS. You recognize these sites by and XML logo of an RSS logo (lower right) in Mozilla Firefox.


When you use a RSS-reader (or plugin in Firefox) you can collect the feeds from your favorite sites. Updates to all of these site are shown is a simple interface. When you see somethink you like you can click to visit the site from which the new item came.
